My experience of the TorontoChange "action" event on July 06

In a ackward timeline, since I'm too tired to use proper structure:

Part 1:As soon as I walk onto Dundas Square, the truthers demonstrate their disappointment.

Part 2: Debating with the owner of Global Outlook (popular Canadian truther site

- in this debate I learned that I can't debate anyone until I have a website
-even if I have a website, I must have a written proclamation of all my beliefs.
- only then I can debate a truther

Part 3: I'm told to go "look for other anti-semites"

Part 4: Told that I'm sheeple etc

Part 5: The leader wants to have a coffee with me so that I leave their event. I agree. There I'm accused of not being patriotic enough and ruining our country.

Part 6: I'm yelled at to go away since I'm ruining Canada etc.

Part 7: I notice a little girl wearing a "9/11 was an inside job" shirt. I ask her why shes there, she points to her dad.(She's in 5th grade) I then ask her dad if he thinks that indoctrinating his daughter is the best idea. His daughter exclaims that shes saving the country and saving herself. I'm speechless.

Part 8: Their leader shoves a camera in my face. I then debate with another gentleman, who turns out to agree with me on everything. I then ask him why hes handing out their fliers. He informs me that he likes to talk to people and was just called to help out. Nice guy. Sad reality for the truth movement.

Part 9: A general debate with one of their main members.

Part 10: I begin debating with the little girl's dad. Little girl begins to hit me. Tells me that she's "protecting her dad", so that I won't argue with him. This is a new low for the truth movement. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Her dad simply watches on. I finally ask the dad to address his daughter. He finally tells her to get off me, but assures her that I am in fact stupid. As I'm finally able to speak, I talk to one of the men who stopped by their banner. As I bring my points up, the truther walks away. I'm left with the passerby and we have a laugh about the truth movement.

Part 11: Their leader points out a small camera to me. I ask then not to be uploaded on the web. The leader agrees.(Agreement wasn't satisfied)

Part 12: Most leave, with one truther left. A muslim man my age stops to talk to us. Announces himself to be a truther, making the last TorontoChanger very happy. I debate with this passerby for a bit. I'm told not to "focus on the science" and such. The remaining truther then turns to him and tells him not to "bother" with me since I'm Jewish. What pisses me off is that this specific truther knows that I'm an atheist, so he can only be talking about my racial background. The passerby confirms my ethnicity: "I can tell". Note: they whisper this to each other as they're debating with me, so it's stupid for them to think that I can't hear. His friends all greet me with "Shalom", I answer back "Salam". I'm asked on how I knew that they were Muslim, so I point out that one of them is wearing a burka(sp?). I then use the opportunity to ask the man on how he knew I was Jewish. He points out that it was obvious to him by the way I look and that he has acquired this skill from working at an airport, where he gets to see many people from New York. Once again I'm questioned on how "Canadian" I am, as he justifies that I'm probably from New York, since I look like all the Jews he sees from New York.
I try to downplay the tone of this by informing him that I am in fact Canadian but have family in Brooklyn. He eventually leaves.

Part 13: Muslim missionaries on Dundas Square try to convert me. I receive a free Quran. The last remaining truther tells me that I'm going to be "a demon burning in hell" for: a) being a Jew, b)being an atheist, c)not being a truther. He then informs me of how I may eventually be physically injured if I continue to debate at truther functions. The End.
